Finding a Therapist in Hackney
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Hackney. In our first consultation we have an opportunity to understand what brings you to this point. Together we will consider the themes and patterns in your life and how a therapeutic process might support you. This conversation takes place in a confidential setting at my practice in Hackney.
About Me
I have practiced as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist for more than 20 years. I am accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic supervisor registered with the British Association of Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervisors (BAPPS). I am a member of the Arbours Association of Psychotherapists (AAP) and a member of The Association for Psychodynamic Practice and Counselling in Organisational Settings (APPCIOS).
My career as a therapist began in therapeutic communities more than 20 years ago, providing residential care and treatment to adults in critical care settings. In addition, I worked intensively at the Arbours Crisis Centre, an internationally renowned facility providing an alternative to in-patient hospital treatment for adults experiencing acute emotional distress and acute psychological challenges. From here, I co-facilitated psychotherapy groups in hospital acute/secure settings and provided clinical supervision in charity organisations for young people and bereavement services.
I am a clinical psychodynamic supervisor and tutor, leading annual workshops at the Highgate Counselling Centre (HCC).
I have a private practice in Hackney London E9 working with individuals over a broad range of relational and emotional issues.
As a private psychodynamic supervisor, I support supervisees in setting up their practice and in their training, as well as supporting established psychotherapists in their ongoing clinical work.

My Approach
I offer a psychoanalytic approach to psychotherapy, to explore how recurring patterns in relationships may have been impacted by the past and earlier experiences.
From childhood the foundations for relationships are set in place and provide a template for what lies ahead. It may be that strategies acquired to cope with what’s difficult are not always helpful. This psychoanalytic approach can help identify patterns and recurrences through increased awareness towards change. By understanding the origins and recognising the links to current patterns, the prospect of feeling less helpless and less inclined to repetition is our purpose. Here we can find more helpful ways of relating. It is invaluable to also appreciate the pressures and influences that shape us, in culture, in society and the prejudices we may be exposed to.
I can offer time limited or open-ended work which may include some of the following issues:
Fee Structure
My fee is £70 per session. I do charge for missed sessions but will accommodate where I can to find an alternative time. We can discuss this and other practicalities at our initial consultation, in person or online.
I offer a limited number of sessions at a reduced fee by negotiation for those on low income and to students.
Clinical Supervision
As a psychodynamic supervisor I support therapists in setting up their clinical practice and in their trainings. I also offer private supervision to established psychotherapists in their on-going case-work.
